Azerbaijani official: Government will create conditions for political parties to hold activities within law

The Azerbaijani government will create the necessary conditions for all political parties to hold activities under the law in the run up to the parliamentary elections.

"If the activities are conducted within the law, the government will create all necessary conditions for this," head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department, Ali Hasanov told journalists today.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in fall 2010. Previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections are held according to the majority system in Azerbaijan's 125 constituencies.

Some opposition parties are planning to hold the campaign rallies.

The socio-political situation in Azerbaijan is activated with upcoming of the parliamentary elections, Hasanov said.

"In 2010, the opposition, neutral and pro-government parties are seriously prepared for the elections," her added.
