Council of Europe to appoint new co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan

The Council of Europe (CE) will appoint a new co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan, as Andreas Herkel's tenure comes to an end, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Vice President Samad Seyidov said in an interview with the the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's Web site.

PACE will approve the nomination of a new co-rapporteur after the June session, Seyidov said.

According to the PACE official, a new co-rapporteur has not yet been nominated.

"This issue falls to the competency of the assembly. For us, the main thing is for the new co-reporter to perform his duties at the highest level," he said.
