Serbian President to trip to Azerbaijan in May

Serbian President Boris Tadic will visit Azerbaijan, it was stated at Azerbaijani ambassador in Serbia Eldar Hasanov's meeting with the country's President Boris Tadic.

The meeting took place during the presentation of credentials by the ambassador to the head of the Serbian state, according to the statement.

Serbian President stressed importance of opening a diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan and congratulated the Ambassador with beginning of his mission.

Reminding about his upcoming visit to Azerbaijan, Tadic emphasized that he would be glad to see President Ilham Aliyev in Serbia. According to him, it is expected to sign several bilateral documents during the visit.

Serbian president confirmed his country's position, which supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and the position of Azerbaijan in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict at the meeting with the ambassador.

He also thanked Azerbaijan leadership for its support to Serbia in Kosovo problem.

While speaking about economic relations between the two countries, Serbian president stressed that both countries have done a great job in increasing them to the Government level.

He expressed Serbia's interest in development of the  cooperation with Azerbaijan, which holds a balanced policy in the energy sector.

Eldar Hasanov conveyed Azerbaijani President's greetings to his Serbian counterpart, informed  Tadic about political, economic situation in the country, and spoke about the ongoing democratic reforms, as well as the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The diplomat also stressed that the personal relations of the two presidents, Serbia's President's upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in May, and the mutual interests of both countries will create  a good basis for the development of relations.

Hasanov being also head of the country's diplomatic mission in Romania, participated in a conference of ambassadors of foreign countries, which headquarters is located in neighboring countries, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Technology of Serbia V. Celic, Foreign Minister V.Jeremic and Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac. Hasanov expressed Azerbaijan's interest in the comprehensive development of relations with Serbia in his speech at the conference. 

Official opening of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Serbia is scheduled for May 28. It was also decided to establish a Trade and Economic Chamber of Azerbaijan-Serbia and for Azerbaijani Culture Centre.
