Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament meets representatives of German Bundestag

First vice-speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Ziyafat Asgarov met with visiting representatives of German Bundestag on March 12.

Asgarov highly praised current relations between the two countries, saying “both countries have great potential for expansion of bilateral cooperation”.

He also informed the German representatives on work done to protect human rights and freedom of media in the country.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Asgarov stressed the dispute is the real threat for the whole region, adding “the conflict can be settled only within Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity”.

Former member of the German Bundestag Eduard Lintner underlined Azerbaijan is always in the focus of attention of Germany. He hailed Azerbaijan's increasing influence and economic development.

Lintner stressed Germany backs settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within international legal norms and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

German ambassador to Azerbaijan Per Christopher Stanchina attended the meeting.
