Azerbaijani internal minister meets CoE Commissioner for Human Rights

Usubov said the ministry and the Council of Europe enjoy “close and cooperative” relations.

The minister in particular emphasized the importance of cooperation in strengthening the protection of human rights and freedoms.

“We`ve done much under the Council of Europe`s Police and Human Rights Program and Cooperation Program to Strengthen the Rule of Law.”
Usubov also spoke of what had been done to prevent negative cases in police bodies.

Hammarberg expressed hope Azerbaijan's police would continue assisting the implementation of democratic reforms in the country.
