Event dedicated to Khojaly tragedy to be held in Tbilisi

An event devoted to Khojaly massacre of February 26, 1992 will be held in the "Caucasian house" tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. on the initiative of the Congress of Georgia's Azerbaijanis.
On Feb. 25-26 February, 1992 Armenian occupation forces together with the 366-th infantry regiment of the Soviet troops stationed in Khankandi (earlier Stepanakert) fired Azerbaijani Khojaly town by all kinds of artillery systems, and then occupied the town in Nagorno-Karabakh of Azerbaijan, located about 23 km from Khankandi.

Armenian troops committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. The tragedy began early morning. Within hours, over 613 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens were killed. Among them were 106 women and 83 children. About 1,000 people were disabled by shots; 8 families were fully destroyed. A total of 25 children lost both of their parents and 130 children lost one of them. About 1,275 people were taken prisoner and around 150 people went missing. Eight families were completely killed.
