Caucasus Muslims Board chief appeals to world community over Khojaly Genocide

23 February 2010 [18:08] - TODAY.AZ
Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade has appealed to the world nations, heads of state, parliaments and international organizations, CMB said in a statement.
"Expressing the will and feelings of millions of Azerbaijanis, irrespective of religion, race and nationality I appeal to the world community, heads of state, parliaments and international organizations. I think there can be no nation, religion in the world that rejects moral values, justifies violence, murder, aggression and bloody crimes," the appeal reads.

"The humanity has always condemned crimes and actions of the murderers. But unfortunately, the Khojaly Tragedy of Azerbaijan, one of the bloody pages of the world history, fact of genocide has not received due political assessment yet."

"Double standards are inadmissible. Khojaly Tragedy has not been condemned by the world community within 18 years. Over 10,000 civilians of Khojaly were attacked by Armenians on February 26, 1992. As many as 613 people were killed, including the old, children, pregnant women, 1,275 people underwent tortures and bodies were insulted. The mankind can not gain prestige by ignoring this savagery," it said in the appeal.

"The whole world acknowledged in word that every criminal, terrorist not depending on their national and religious belonging should be brought to justice before the international law, he said in his address. But painful reality is that Armenian extremists have not been punished for their crimes so far and no sanctions have been imposed against them despite their indifference towards international organizations, even UN resolutions. Armenian periodical cruelties against Azerbaijan remained unpunished and therefore they occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands and expelled millions of Azerbaijanis from their homelands."

"They didn't give up their aggressive plans and committed acts of vandalism in the occupied lands, destroyed cultural monuments, mosques and cemeteries, committed material and spiritual terrorists attacks and misappropriated historic documents and things. What they have to do else so that the world will recognize them as criminals? How long Armenian interests will be preferred than justice?!" the appeal says.
