Italian ambassador meets Azerbaijani IDPs

Italian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mario Giorgio Stefano Baldi met with internally displaced persons settled in the capital's Sabunchu district on Feb. 22.
The ambassador became familiar with plight of the IDPs forced to flee their homes as a result of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Head of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh Bayram Safarov briefed the diplomat on the consequences of the conflict.

He also spoke of the Azerbaijani government`s works to alleviate living conditions of IDPs.

Safarov expressed regret that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs` efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh yield no results.

He underlined President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev demonstrates constructive position on the ongoing talks to settle the conflict.

Safarov also thanked the Italian parliament for the adoption of a resolution supporting Azerbaijan`s stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Stefano Baldi, in turn, praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Italia, stressing during his tenure he would spare no efforts to make contribution to further develop it.
