PACE co-rapporteurs visit Azerbaijan

PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Joseph Debono Grech (Malta, SOC) and Andres Herkel (Estonia, EPP/CD) are conducting a fact-finding visit to Azerbaijan in view to finalise their report on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Azerbaijan vis-à-vis the Council of Europe, Council of Europe’s Information in Azerbaijan said.

The co-rapporteurs have started their visit from Ganja.

In Ganja, they will meet with representatives of local authorities, the Prosecutor, the Chair of Appeal Court and the Chief of Police.

The official meetings will start on Feb. 9.

In Baku, talks are scheduled with, among others, the President of the Republic, Speaker of Parliament, Ministers of Justice and National Security, the Prosecutor General and the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission.

The co-rapporteurs will also meet with medias representatives, the Ombudsperson and members of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE.

The visit will be over on Feb. 11.
