Russian co-chair: Azerbaijan, Armenia to submit proposals in two weeks

Yerevan and Baku are to submit their proposals on those provisions of Madrid Document on which the parties have not reached mutual understanding, OSCE Minsk Group Russian Co-Chair Yuri Merzlyakov stated referring to outcomes of the meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents held on Jan. 25.

According to him, the mediators hope the proposals will be submitted in two weeks.

Thereafter the Co-Chairs will again visit the region.

Referring to the previous negotiations, Russian diplomat outlined the sides held open and constructive discussions.

He attached significance to Sargsyan-Aliyev-Medvedev trilateral meeting.

"The parties take Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s initiative with great respect,” he noted.

Nevertheless, Merzlyakov did not forecast whether any document on Karabakh conflict resolution will be signed in 2010.
