EU summit approves Eastern Partnership special cooperation program

Eastern Partnership special cooperation program was approved at the EU summit in Brussels.
EU Commissioner for External Relations and New Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner told journalists that all six members of the program are ready to sign the associative agreement.

“It doesn’t mean that the document will be signed in near future. The Eastern partnership member countries should fulfill the package of political and economic reforms, as well as fundamental changes. This document envisages establishing good environment for cooperation with EU in the different formats”.

EU countries will allocate 600 million euro financial assistance to the Eastern Partnership countries.

These funds will be spent to strengthen government institutions and small enterprises.

The Eastern Partnership covers Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Armenia.
