Azerbaijani foreign ministry expresses attitide to Iran's intentions to lift visa regime

“Abolishing visa regime between Iran and Azerbaijan is Iran’s decision,” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov said commenting on Iranian Foreign Ministry’s intentions to unilaterally abolish visa regime with Azerbaijan.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki stated that he hopes the Iranian parliament will soon approve proposals to unilaterally abolish visa regime with Azerbaijan.

"The Foreign Ministry has presented its proposals to abolish the visa regime to the country's parliament. We hope that this issue will be reviewed and approved soon,” Mottaki said.

"If Iran proposes Azerbaijan to make the similar move and lift the visa regime with Iran, the Azerbaijani side will consider the proposal based on national interests of the country,” Polukhov said.
