"On Tuesday (Oct. 20), our representatives met and assessed the situation in connection with municipal elections in country’s regions,” Azerbaijan’s opposition Citizens and Development party leader Ali Aliyev said commenting on the preparations for the coming municipal elections.
"We are preparing for municipal elections within the Azadlig (Freedom) bloc. We have held conferences and regional meetings. On Thursday, Azadlig bloc will meet and we will certainly adopt a decision on the form of participation in elections,” he said.
"It is inappropriate to boycott elections because our people want to participate in elections, they want to feel as potential candidates, representatives of the municipal elections. So I think that we will not boycott the elections. This option is unlikely,” Aliyev said.
He said there are several options to participate in elections - as a bloc, as a party and individually.
Our decision will be known on Thursday,” he added.
