Turkey's culture ministry responds to accusations of disrespect to Azerbaijani flag in Bursa

"Insulting the Azerbaijani flag is inadmissible. The Azerbaijani flag is the flag of Turkey. We strongly condemn those who did it. Along with all this, I would like note that the ban on bringing the Azerbaijani flag to the Turkey-Armenia football match has no relation to the Turkish Government," Advisor to the Turkish Deputy Culture Minister Kemal Fahir Genc said in Baku on Oct. 16.

During the Turkey-Armenia football match in Bursa on Oct. 14, the Azerbaijani flag was taken away from fans. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed a protest to the Turkish embassy in connection with the incident on Oct. 15.

Genc said disrespect for the flag is inexcusable.

"Whatever happens, Turkey will never want relations with Azerbaijan to deteriorate. Every step taken in Turkey has an impact on Azerbaijan. In the same way, every step in Azerbaijan has an impact on Turkey," he said.
