GUAM working group on combating terrorism meets in Baku

The third meeting of the working group on combating terrorism held in Baku under Azerbaijan's chairmanship focused on the information of the GUAM members on the activities of law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism in the territory of the GUAM member states.

The meeting also reviewed progress in implementing relevant activities under the Plan of organizational and practical activities of the Working Group on combating terrorism, organized crime and drug trafficking in 2009.

GUAM was established in 1997 during the summit of heads of states of the European Union for regional cooperation, but practically was inactive by 2005. During the past three years, the GUAM has focused on settlement of regional conflicts and coordination of efforts to ensure energy security.
