It is quite easy for them to remove Serzh Sargsyan from scene: political expert

“Armenian diaspora is diverse. It involves different political forces,” Azerbaijani political expert Rasim Agayev said commenting on the protests against Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan by the Armenian diaspora in the West prior to the possible signing of protocols on establishing of Armenian-Turkish relations.

"The influence of the most aggressive part of the diaspora to Armenia and on its internal politics is very great. This influence is determined by the finances with the help of which Armenia lives,” he said.

"One day Sargsyan and all those who used an aggressive policy of occupation of foreign territory were to face the fact that they face now. Sargsyan should provide a quiet, normal life in the territory, which is called Armenia. But as a result, he became simply a guide of policies pursued by the Armenians. So they drove the country into a dead end. Now the occupation ideas of Armenians simply are not needed and not interesting any more,” the political expert said.

"I think that Armenia should more focus on its internal problems. Armenians and Armenian diaspora can go very far to achieve their goals. We all have repeatedly witnessed how far Armenians can go. They can involve extremist forces, and can push and pull the trigger, and remove Serzh Sargsyan from the scene. It is quite easy for them to do this,” Agayev added.

"Armenians are capable of either to shoot someone or to provoke a war at the border. They can not do more than that. History of such conflicts show that a peaceful settlement also requires victims as a military solution. If Sargsyan is killed in this situation it would mean that he fell victim to its own ideology,” he said.

"Well, they will remove Sargsyan and another person will come to replace him. But the problem will not  be solved, it will be only temporarily suspended. And then it will be actually clear for the world who is who. No one is to be blamed for the fact that Armenians are people like this. They educated and prepared themselves for hostility for years,” he said.

"Maybe watching these protests Sargsyan will postpone signing of protocols for some time. But this will only mean that Armenia is not ready to settle the conflict,” he said.

"I think it is just the exact time for great powers to curb the Armenian extremism. The situation in the Armenian society is such that they are prepared for expansion and hostility. The society is not ready to coexist with its neighbors while the current situation in the world dictates exactly this,” Agayev said.
