Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel-General Safar Abiyev received American co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Robert Bradtke on Oct. 6, the defense ministry said.

Abiyev wished success to the new co-chair in his activity and noted that several co-chairs had worked on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, but no concrete results were produced. Defense Minister expressed his hope that the new American co-chair and his colleagues would achieve positive results.
Safar Abiyev noted the importance of the immediate solution to the conflict and said no variant of solution was possible beyond the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and withdrawal of the occupants from our territories. A number of international documents also cover it. Safar Abiyev mentioned four resolutions adopted by the UN and said the co-chairing countries could accelerate the peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict basing on these fair decisions. Otherwise, undesired events may happen in the region.
Defense Minister noted that the negotiations that began over 15 years ago had not produced results and said Azerbaijan did not have a claim for anybody’s territories, and no one should ignore the occupation of our territories.
Safar Abiyev reiterated the importance of coordinating the joint activity.
U.S. charge d’affaires in Azerbaijan Donald Lu also attended the meeting.
