UN to help develop NGOs in Azerbaijan's regions

The State NGO Support Council under Azerbaijani President and the UN Development Program (UNDP) have signed a joint project.
The joint project "Strengthening the management capacity of the local NGO sector in Azerbaijan"  aims at providing non-governmental organizations with sustainable development of, improving the experience in management, designing, implementing and accounting of the NGO projects, operating in the region, providing them with advice and training.

The project will be implemented in three directions. Particular attention will be paid to create and register the NGOs in the regions, drafting of the project data of the NGO and proper accounting. The project will cover 21 regions and 20 activists of the NGO will be involved from each region," Chairman of the State NGO Support Council under Azerbaijani President Council, Azay Guliyev said.

UN Resident-Coordinator, Bruno Pouezat said at the signing ceremony that the United Nations Development Program has always sought to strengthen civil society and provides support in this direction.

"We continue this mission in Azerbaijan, and the signing of a new project is a testament to this," said Pouezat.
