Azerbaijani governing party devising conception on municipal elections

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) is devising the concept concerning the municipal elections.
"The party's regional branches have launched preparations for the elections. Some local organizations have set up the headquarters," the NAP Deputy Chairman and MP Ali Ahmadov told journalists on Sept. 5.

Azerbaijan will hold municipal elections in mid-December.

"The country's youth are not enough represented in the municipalities," said Ahmadov.

"The Azerbaijani youth and young party members must actively participate in the municipal elections. The party has created all opportunities for women to get widely involved wit the municipalities," he said.

The municipalities are undergoing a process to improve their activities," he said.

"This year our main goal is to increase work capacity of municipalities. The party has strengthened its work in this direction," said Ahmadov.
