"Every Muslim can pray in Tezepir mosque," Caucasus Muslims Clerical Office head Allahshukur Pashazade said.
Pashazade told journalists that the Friday prayer was first of this kind in the Tezepir mosque.
“This is novelty. There were some problems between Sunni and Shia so far and there was opinion that Sunnites are doing Friday prayer, but Shiites do not which created split between the two creeds," he said.
"Today we founded such tradition that every Muslim can come and pray here. The mosque was overhauled with the material and moral support of the head of the state. The mosque is open for all people. Everyone can pray here. There will be no problem. I believe that Friday prayer will contribute to the unity of the people and lift gap between them," he said.
