I think we should not hurry with the conduction of the referendum on the Constitution of Azerbaijan, said deputy Sabir Rustamkhanly.

He explained that the referendum conduction requires definite expenses and the finances have recently been allocated for conduction of the elections of the president of the country.
"Today some people, who want to get president's favor, try to outstrip everyone proposing an initiative to lift restrictions on the number of election of one and the same person as the head of the state and suggest a referendum. I think we should not hurry and we can hold a referendum on par with the elections in the parliament in 2010", said Rustamkhanly.
In turn, deputy executive secretary of the Yeni Azerbaijan party Siyavush Novruzov considers that this year it is necessary to adopt a decision about it.
"The year of 2008 was successful for Azerbaijan. We held successful presidential elections, corresponding to international standards, economic indicators of Aezrbaijan are growing and I think that this year should be completed successfully and it is necessary to decide about holding a referendum", said he.
Another deputy executive secretary of the party Mubariz Gurbanly also stressed the need to adopt a decision about referendum.
"Laws are always improving. It is possible to introduce amendments, which will improve it, to the current Constitution, adopted in 1995 and such a change is lifting the restriction on the number of election of one and the same person as a president of the country", said Gurbanly.
