Azerbaijan marks Day of Constitution

Day.Az reports that the democratic parliamentary elections were held on November 12 of 1995 and the Constitution of Azerbaijan - an independent sovereign state - was adopted by way of the national referendum.

The people of Azerbaijan, continuing the traditions of statehood, announced intentions to defend the Azerbaijan Republic, ensure democratic order, attain establishment of the civil society and live in conditions of friendship, peace and security with other nations.

The Constitution of the country was adopted on November 12 of 1995. The first parliamentary elections were held in Azerbaijan on the same day. The decision to mark the Day of Constitution was adopted on February 6 of 1996.
