Russian expert Vladimir Zakharov: "Talks between three presidents must be launched, if no, it would mean the suspension of the process"

"Russia has been in time to intercept the initiative for the resolution of the Karabakh problem", considers Vladimir Zakharov, head of the Center of Caucasus Studies of MGIMO.
"The visit of the Russian president to Armenia was timely, for the United States has recently intercepted the initiative for the Karabakh conflict resolution. This is an issue important both for Armenia and Azerbaijan, while Russia is not indifferent to this issue", said he.

According to Zakharov, the five day war in South Ossetia showed what it means "when the United State assumes control over the resolution of conflicts in the post-Soviet area".

"Therefore, Russia has timely intercepted this initiative and I consider it to be positive. As far as we know, the meeting of the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia must be held in November. I know that Armenian press voices different opinions, but these are just suggestions and we should not think: what if...", said he.

He is confident that the talks between the three presidents must be launched, if no it means that the case has been suspended.
