Center of Cooperation of Opposition to file claim against Baku mayor's office

23 October 2008 [10:42] - TODAY.AZ
The Center of Cooperation of Opposition intends to file a claim to the court due to the violation of the law "On Freedom of Assembly" by the Baku mayor's office, said head of the central office of the Musavat Party Arif Hajili.
He said the claim will be submitted to the Sabail district court on behalf of the parties, represented in the Center of Cooperation of Opposition.

"Yet we do not intend to stop. In order to ensure the freedom of assembly in the country, the parties intend to continue holding actions. In connection with holding the actions, the Musavat party and the Center of Cooperation of Opposition will develop a plan of actions that they are going to implement", noted he.

Hajili also said that after getting due documents from the Supreme court regarding the first claim of the Musavat party about the non-observance of the freedom of assembly in the country, the party will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

It should be noted that the mayor's office did not allow the parties to hold actions in the center of Baku, recommending them to organize it on Bibi Eybat stadium. Yet the parties consider that the site and the time of action is defined by its organizers.

It should be noted that the Center of Cooperation of Opposition includes Musavat party, Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Civil Development Party, Liberal Party and Public forum "For Azerbaijan".
