Armenian Republican Party: "Armenia's recognition of independence of Nagorno Karabakh will not influence the resolution of the Karabakh issue"

20 October 2008 [12:13] - TODAY.AZ
"Any changes in the OSCE Minsk Group format on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict are completely inadmissible", said deputy chairman of the Armenian Republican party Galust Saakyan.
"The statement of the first president of Armenian Levon Ter-Petrosyan about suspension of mass actions of the opposition may mean that he gives up the politics", said Saakyan commenting on the statement of the first president, made during a meeting of opposition held in Yerevan on October 17.

The deputy from the ruling party noted that thus Levon Ter-Petrosyan has understood the reality of his situation.

"I have repeatedly said that Levon Ter-Petrosyan intends to give up the politics and his recent actions are a worthy abandonment", explained Saakyan.

He considers that recognition of "NKR" independence by the parliament of Armenia may not promote the resolution of the Karabakh issue.

"Armenia's recognition of independence of Nagorno Karabakh will not influence the resolution of the Karabakh issue", noted he.

The deputy also said that there were not any changes in the national doctrine of Armenia, therefore, they are no changes in the external political course.

He said the strategic cooperation of Armenia does not imply changes in any format, especially in such a serious question as a resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

"The issue of any changes in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group is absolutely inadmissible and it will be senseless to discuss it", said Saakyan asked about the position of his party in case Armenia is offered to accept the changes in the OSCE MG format, as Ter-Petrosyan predicted in his speech.
