Vladimir Kazimirov: "The chains of bellicose statements, periodically voiced in Azerbaijan, can not be ignored"

"The progress in Karabakh issue is possible if Azerbaijan starts to consider Nagorno Karabakh as a party of the conflict", said former co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group from Russia Vladimir Kazimirov, speaking at the fifth jubilee conference "Convent 2008" held under the slogan "World policy: vision of future".

"Even Saakashvili with his odd character recognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia as parties of the conflict", continued the Russian diplomat.

According to Kazimirov, the first conclusion, drawn after the deterioration of the situation around South Ossetia is that Russia must insist on signing of an agreement on non-application of force in Nagorno Karabakh.

"The chains of bellicose statements, periodically voiced in Azerbaijan, can not be ignored. This is a whole system, which affects the psychology and encourages the armament racing", said the former co-chair.

According to the vice president of the Union of Armenians of Russia Gegam Khalatyan, it should be taken into consideration in the searches of the resolution of the Karabakh conflict that "if we respect the USSR institutions, its territorial division, internal borders, including the inclusion of Nagorno Karabakh into Azerbaijan, we should also respect the USSR constitution, which says that the status of autonomous republics must be settled by way of referendum during the collapse of the country".
