29 August 2008 [15:54] - TODAY.AZ
Participants of a protest in front of the Russian embassy to Azerbaijan demanded withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgia and the whole South Caucasus, reports Interfax-Azerbaijan with reference to the Organization for Karabakh Liberation, which arranged this protest.
"The protest participants condemned recognition of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Russia.

Moreover, the protest participants demanded withdrawal of the Russian army from Georgia", said the source.

The action participants managed to present the resolution of the protest which says that "Russia must be sanctioned for its actions" to the embassy representative.

"Political and economic sanctions should be imposed against it. There is no place for this occupant country in the international organizations. The events pose a threat to Azerbaijan as well.

We demand from Russia to withdraw all its troops from Georgia and, in general, from the South Caucasus, reject support of the occupant Armenia and respect the territorial integrity of the countries", says the resolution of the picket.

The action was not sanctioned by the city powers, but in line with the announcement of the organization, no incidents were recorded between the protest participants and the law enforcement bodies.
