Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov arrives in Turkey - UPDATED

The decision of official Baku to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe via Russia will be adopted by results of talks with Gazprom and Turkey Enegry Ministry, reports Interfax-Azerbaijan with reference to the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedyarov, visiting Turkey.

According to Turkish mass medias, asked about possible acceptance of Gazprom's proposal to purchase natural gas, produced in the territory of Azerbaijan and the simultaneous rejection of official Baku to implementation of Nabucco project, Mamedyarov noted that "we have not responded yet and the meetings continue both with Gazprom and Turkey's Energy Ministry".

"Our decision depends on result of talks with Gazprom and Turkey's Energy Ministry", said the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Day.Az reports with reference to Turkish Anadolu news agency, that at the Ankara airport he was welcomed by ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey Zakir Hashimov and other officials.

While speaking to Turkish press at the airport, Mamedyarov said that at today's meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babajan, he will discuss initiative for creation of the Caucasus alliance.

Asked about Baku's reaction to the invitation to Turkish President Abdullah Gul to visit Yerevan, Mamedyarov said he is the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, but not its President: "This is a decision, which should be taken by the President of Turkey", announced he.

It should be noted that following the meeting with Babajan, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister will be received by A.Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedyarov left for a one day visit to Turkey today, reports the press service for the Foreign Ministry.

The Foreign Minister will hold a number of meetings with the country's leadership to discuss bilateral and international issues.
