Paata Davitaya: "The next objects of Russia's military aggression will be Ukraine and Azerbaijan"

- How does Georgia assess the results of the clash with Russia?

- As regards to military clash, the powers were primordially unequal and Georgia had no opportunity to resist Russia's military aggression. But it has become obvious to the world that present-day Russia is an aggressor country. It is an aggressor in line with international law.

Our parliament will pass a decision according to which the territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia are occupied by Russia. But the most terrible thing is that Russia does not intend to stop and continues the policy of ethnic cleansing in Georgia.

- Do you think the world society will be able to take steps, according to which Russia will get a worthy response for the crimes, it committed?

- The world society voices tough statements, condemning Russia. Such statements are also made by the United States, while Georgia is still feeling the consequences of military aggression by Russia, facing ethnic cleansing of Georgian population by Ossetia and Kazaks. In these conditions I consider it necessary to deploy international peacekeeping forces in Georgia. We can not even imagine the scales of terror, now witnessed in Georgia under silent agreement of the Russian armed troops to these crimes!

- Why do you think air attacks were not carried against Javakheti, though one of the biggest military bases locates there?

- I think because Armenians, who always supported Russia, reside there.

- How does the population assess the situation in the country, does it support Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili?

- Despite being an oppositionist, I also support President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili. We all will support him till the end, as Russia's attempts to replace powers in our country by force in obvious. Occupational forces, committing terror, are currently in my country. In these conditions, it is untimely to speak of differences between the officials and opposition. I am sure that each Georgian adheres to such an opinion.

- Is there a threat of Russia's military aggression against Azerbaijan?

- I am sure that the next objects of Russia's military aggression will be Ukraine and Azerbaijan. The BTC pipeline was bombed on purpose! It is time to realize how far the Kremlin's ambitions may go. It is time to realize that if Georgia loses, Ukraine and Azerbaijan will also lose, as Russia attempts to restore the Soviet Union and makes it by means of a military aggression against independent states.
