US ambassador to Azerbaijan visit Azerbaijan's South - UPDATED

The opening of a rural road, reconstructed under financial support of USAID, was held in Lerik.

According to Day.Az, the road opening ceremony was attended by US ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse, USAID representative Ken Yamashito and head of CHF in Azerbaijan Zoran Rabich.

The journalists were informed that the 12 kilometer section of the road, connecting the Piran and Kharamat villages, have been reconstructed. $168,000 was used for these works with USAID accounting for a greater part.

Moreover, new electric transformers were bought for Khovil and Gilov villages under USAID's financial support.

According to Day.Az, during the visit Anne Derse is accompanied by USAID representative Ken Yamashito, head of CHF organization in Azerbaijan Zoran Rabich and other officials.

The visitors are currently participating in the opening of a dairy factory in Chakhirli village of Masalli. The factory was built under financial support of USAID in the framework of the program of support to community development.

During the visit, the US delegation will also visit Lerik, Astara and Lenkoran.
