Safar Abiyev: "Conflicts on the CIS area remain No 1 problem"

The event participants considered about 20 issues of various directions of interaction between the CIS defense ministries, including creation of the system of exchange of military and scientific informaiton between the Defense Ministries in studying problems of air defense.

They also confirmed bases of interaction between the archive services of the CIS armed forces.

Defense Minister Safar Abiyev said the situation in the CIS region is far from ideal.

"Conflicts in the CIS area remain No 1 problem. There are conflicts between Abkhazia and Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. About 20% of Azerbaijani lands are under Armenian occupation. Unfortunately, such conflicts are not raised on the CIS level, which undermines the relations", concluded he.
