Assistant Secretary of State meets opposition leaders

President of Public Forum for Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov told APA that U.S. ambassador Anne Derse also attended the meeting.

State of democracy and human rights, arrest of journalists, problems concerning freedom of speech, forthcoming presidential elections and democratic reforms in Azerbaijan were discussed during the meeting.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Ali Karimli, leader of National Unity Movement Lala Shovkat, chairman of Musavat Isa Gambar, chairman of Citizen Solidarity Party Sabir Rustamkhanly, chairman of Adalat (Justice) Party Ilyas Ismayilov, chairman of Umid (Hope) Party Igbal Agazadeh and Eldar Namazov also were present at the meeting.

David Kramer will meet with senior officials within the framework of his visit.
