Azerbaijani envoy in NATO: "Azerbaijan may increase the number of its peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan and Iraq"

Azerbaijan may raise the number of its peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The due announcement was made by Kamil Khasiyev, Azerbaijani envoy in NATO, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

"I do not exclude Azerbaijan's raising of the number of its peacekeepers in Afghanistan and Iraq. Azerbaijan will continue participation in the process of establishing peace in the regions of conflicts", he noted.

It should be noted that 150 peacekeepers of Azerbaijan serve within the multi-national forces in Iraq and 34 in Kosovo. The Azerbaijani servicemen, operating within the peacekeeping forces of Turkey, control 18 villages of Kosovo. 45 Azerbaijani peacekeepers serve in the International forces of assistance to security in Afghanistan, they are patroling in Kabul.
