French co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier wished the countries to reach a breakthrough in the Nagorno-Garabagh conflict settlement in 2008. According to him, those who say that nothing was reached in 2007, do not have any idea of the Madrid meeting.

The co-chairing countries worked conjointly and introduced new proposals to the sides in Madrid.

Fassier said he does not expect any of the sides to accept these proposals fully and to be ready for any concessions:

"This is a process, when each side must make concessions".

"We expect an oral agreement between the heads of states", US co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Matthew Bryza said upon arrival in Baku.

He ruled out any parallels between the Nagorno-Garabagh and Kosovo conflicts, noting that "they have nothing in common".

In turn, French co-chairman of the Minsk Group Bernard Fassier noted that the proposals of the Minsk Group co-chairmen regarding the settlement of the Garabagh conflict, introduced to the sides in Madrid, are positive for both countries.

At the same time, he said none of the country will be able to attain everything it wants in full.

Fassier noted that the conflicting sides have an opportunity to make a thorough assessment of the proposals on the conflict settlement, presented by the Minsk Group co-chairmen.
