President Aliyev has no intention to set 7 years presidential term - Ramiz Mehdiyev

01 June 2007 [08:19] - TODAY.AZ
No serious amendments are expected to the Electoral Code, President's Administration Chief of Staff Ramiz Mehdiyev said.

He said that if there are any amendments to the Electoral Code, they will be technical changes.

Mehdiyev said that Electoral Code is being debated in the Venice Commission.

"Chief of Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov and department chief of President's Administration Shahin Aliyev are in Strasbourg," he said.

Ramiz Mehdiyev refuted the reports about amendments to the Constitution. He regarded the proposals on setting presidential term at a period of seven years as "pleasant wishes."

"Mr. President has no such intention," he said.

While commenting on proposals about changing the emblem and shortening state anthem the head of President's Administration said they are not debated on highest level. APA
