Rabiyyat Aslanova: "Ali Insanov and Eynulla Fatullayev are not political prisoners"

24 April 2007 [08:12] - TODAY.AZ
"Ali Insanov and Eynulla Fatullayev are not political prisoners. Opposition newspapers always regarded Ali Insanov corrupt official. Now they defend him," Rabiyyat Aslanova, parliamentarian, chief of parliament’s commission on human rights said.

According to Rabiyyat Aslanova, ex-health minister Ali Insanov can not be regarded as political prisoner.

"Eynulla Fatullayev's trial and arrest was legal. He was arrested for insulting Khojaly residents, not for his activity. Therefore there is no need to make agiotage," she said.

Aslanova does not see any need for establishing a committee to defend Eynulla Fatullayev's rights.

"Why wasn't such a committee established to defend the rights of Khojaly residents? I think that Khojaly residents are right. Eynulla Fetullayev insulted their honor and dignity. Everybody has the right to prevent any action insulting his honor and dignity legally," she said.

Aslanova noted that the arrest of editor-in-chief cannot be regarded as pressure on freedom of speech, APA reports.
