Khalaf Khalafov: "We achieved more progress in the negotiations with Russia than with Georgia"

27 March 2007 [12:21] - TODAY.AZ
"The situation on delimitation of Azerbaijani-Georgian border differs from that of delimitation of Azerbaijani-Russian border. We have achieved more progress in the negotiations with Russia in comparison with Georgia," Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told journalists.

He said that some progress was achieved at the latest meeting of the commissions on delimitation of Azerbaijani-Georgian border.

"Some territories have already been coordinated. The next meeting on delimitation issues will be held in Georgia. Experts should implement some procedures on delimitation of borders by that time," he said.

Commenting on the reports about giving the status of tourist zone to David Garechi cloister, which is situated on the border, Khalaf Khalafov said that this issue is not in the competence of the commission co-chaired by him.

"The delimitation commission does not deal with these issues but delimitation of borders," a deputy minister said, APA reports.
