Abbas Lisani one of the activists of South Azerbaijan National Movement was arrested again, Said Naimi, the chief of Political Prisoners' Defense Committee, stated.

Lisani was accused of the meetings against government and sentenced by Ardabil Revolution Court.

Abbas Lisani was arrested during the mass meetings held in Azerbaijanis living Iranian cities on June 3 and kept in detention place till September 26.

He was released on bail paying US $8 000 and by Ardabil Revolution Court 3 October, 2006 decision was sentenced for 16 months and 50 lashes being accused of leading the rally, mass unrest and committing sabotage against the government.

His appeal to the Court of Appeal was not accepted, APA reports.
