The community of Western Azerbaijan has issued a statement in connection with the Brussels meeting, Azernews reports.
The statement says: "According to the information we have received, the issue of safe and dignified return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homes was discussed at the trilateral meeting held in Brussels on 15 July 2023. Putting the issue of our return on the agenda of negotiations on the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a fact of historical development toward the peaceful resolution of this issue in accordance with international law. This further inspires the Community of West Azerbaijan and every Azerbaijani forcibly evicted from Armenia to work towards the realization of the right to return.
The Community of West Azerbaijan reiterates that the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to their homes is a triumph of human rights and justice, a necessary condition for the establishment of lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. From this point of view, we sincerely welcome the inclusion of the issue of the right and safety of the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia in the framework of the Brussels peace process.
The Community of West Azerbaijan reiterates its readiness for direct negotiations with the Government of Armenia on this issue, in parallel with the consideration of the issue of return in the Brussels Peace Process, which serves the normalization of inter-State relations, and reiterates its appeal to the Government of Armenia for dialogue.
The Community has called on the international community to give an adequate assessment of the crimes against humanity committed by Armenia, such as ethnic cleansing and racial discrimination. They have also demanded that the Armenian government cease its policies and practices that incite hatred and discrimination against Azerbaijanis, and bring the perpetrators of crimes against Azerbaijanis to justice.
