OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to visit Azerbaijan on February 1

26 January 2006 [04:37] - TODAY.AZ
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will visit Azerbaijan on February 1 and leave for Armenia on February 2, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told.

The discussions will focus on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the framework of "Prague process" and the agreements achieved at London meeting, APA reports.

Elmar Mammadyarov commented Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov's statement that Russian troops would be attached to the peacekeepers when he's on a visit in Azerbaijan. E.Mammadyarov said that it's only a proposal and the troops of the countries of Minsk Group co-chairs wouldn’t be attached to the peacekeeping forces.

Touching on the visit of OSCE High-Level Planning Group to Nagorno Karabakh, the Minister noted that, the mandate of the peacekeeping forces should be worked out first of all: "It includes the troops of the countries and the territory to station them. The issue on peacekeeping forces will be discussed after the presentation of this information. If the principal issues are coordinated, the peacekeeping forces will be stationed in the territory".
