16 January 2006 [20:55] - TODAY.AZ
There is changes in the policy of the official Yerevan after Prague Process on regulation of Nagorno Karabakh conflict launched, said Sabina Fraizer, special representative of the International Crisis Group on the Southern Caucasus.

As ANS informs, according to her, some years ago Armenia demanded determination of status issue without withdrawal of forces from the occupied Azeri lands. But now official Yerevan agrees with withdraw of armed forces from occupied territories in initial stage. It happens with demands of Azerbaijan and it’s serious step to compromise. Mrs. Fraizer noted, ICG thinks, completely withdrawing of troops from occupied territories around Nagorno Karabakh, returning of half million IDPIs to their lands, deployment of the international peaceful troops in the region and guaranty for safety are important.

According to Mrs. Fraizer, the structure, mandate and number of the peaceful troops are important too. "If Azerbaijan worries about participation of Russians in the peaceful contingent, then Armenia also worries about Turkey’s participation. So parties can reach agreement about non participation of forces of both countries in the peacekeeping mission." Mrs. Fraizer says, ICG is preparing a report on EU’s activity in the South Caucasus on resolution of the conflict.
