Yuri Merzlyakov: "Draft Agreement on Nagorno Karabakh conflict will not be discussed at London meeting"

As Trend reports, the draft agreement on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will not be discussed at the London meeting of the Azerbaijan and Armenia Foreign Ministries heads, as well as the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairman from Russia Yuri Merzlyakov told.

Speaking of the forthcoming meeting on 18-19 January in London the diplomat said debating of issues which had been held earlier and are not agreed upon so far will be continued. According to him, the draft agreement on the Armenian -Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh may be prepared only in the case when the accord on the basic principles will be achieved. "What to write the document for, when the sides have not coordinated some major issues", Merzlyakov added.

Along with this, according to him, it will be not dwelt upon "on some proposals, on concrete wordings of specific issue" at the consultations. "Undoubtedly, it will be dwelt upon on the forthcoming meeting of the presidents. Some issues will be discussed at the meeting, there will be attempts to clarify them and to resolve. We consider it actually as preparation for the presidents’ next meeting ", Merzlyakov said and added the date and venue of the Azerbaijan and Armenia Presidents’ next meeting scheduled for February will be known after this meeting.
