Azerbaijan government agreed introducing amendments to electoral code, but this does not refer to composition of electoral commissions

Azerbaijan government agreed introducing additional amendments to electoral code, not envisaged in the draft of changes proposed by them.
The agency Trend reports, the Venetian commission of CE by results of Strasburg meeting of representatives of Azerbaijan government and experts of this structure 31 May.

The Venetian commission mentioned, during indicated negotiations between experts of Venetian commission of CE and representatives of Azerbaijan government, the agreement was achieved about introduction of several amendments to initial draft proposed by government.

«Unfortunately, the issue about composition of commissions wasn’t discussed», the commission said. Nevertheless, the Venetian commission expressed its satisfaction, that the meeting was constructive.

«Besides of simplification of several provisions of code, Azerbaijan party agreed to reconsider provisions about publication of lists of voters, observers, dispute of results of elections in courts and several other items», the commission noted. They indicated, the Venetian commission is to consider conclusion at its plenary session 11 June, afterwards the text is to appear in Internet. As for monitoring of realization of recommendations by Azerbaijan, then Venetian commission noted, this is the task of Parlament Assembly and Committee of Ministers of CE.

The commission also indicated, other meetings are not scheduled by this project.
