Maurizio Pavesi met with "16 October" Movement members

"16 October" Movement members today met with representatives of OSCE Office in Baku.
Deputy leader of Musavat Arif Hajili, chairman of Umid Party Igbal Agazade, executive secretary of "16 October" Movement Penah Huseynov, Musavat member Ibrahim Ibrahimli and head of Commission for Protection the rights of the imprisoned on 16 October Vaqgif Hajibayli attended the meeting.

As one of the members of the movement first deputy chairman of ADP Serdar Jalaloglu was in Gabala and editor-in-chief of "Yeni Musavat" newspaper Rauf Arifoglu was in Tovuz and chairman of Garanagh Gazis Organization Etimad Asadov couldn't attend the meeting because of health problems. The meeting was attended by head of OSCE Office in Baku Maurizio Pavesi, coordinator Ulvi Akhundzadeh and 2 more associates of the Office.

APA was informed by Arif Hajili. According to him, socio-political situation in the country, opposition's suggestions to the Election Code, necessary measures to be implemented in the direction of democratization of environment before elections, obstacles for freedom of assembly of the citizens, the issues concerning solving the problem of those arrested for participation in 16 October events and therefore their election rights were discussed in the meeting. M.Pavesi stated that, the OSCE is interested in holding free and democratic elections in Azerbaijan.

He also stated that they continue the cooperation with authority and opposition powers. Stating that they are trying to restore the election rights of the lection prisoners imposed imprisonment, M.Pavesi underlined that, OSCE Office in Baku will continue its efforts in the direction of removing imprisonment of the "16 October" members.
