Serbia is interested in the South gas corridor (UPDATE)

SOCAR's head office hosted a meeting of the president of the company Rovnag Abdullayev with the delegation led by Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vu?i? on 14 April.

Mr. Abdullayev noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are developing at a high level. Abdullayev said that the bilateral relations are successful in political, economic and humanitarian spheres and informed about the availability of favorable prospects for fruitful cooperation.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vu?i? expressed satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of development of economic ties between the two countries and noted the great interest towards the South gas corridor.

The SOCAR president noted that the South gas corridor occupies an important place in the energy security of Europe and noted that the Shahdeniz-2 project is the first and a very important stage in the opening of this corridor.

According to him, the development of fields discovered in Azerbaijan including Umid, Absheron and other promising structures is also associated with the future of the South gas corridor.

The Serbian Prime Minister noted that over the past years Azerbaijan has become famous as a reliable supplier of oil and gas.

He noted that his country lays great expectations on the supply of natural gas extracted in Azerbaijan via the South gas corridor to Serbia.

The Premier said that natural gas extracted at Shahdeniz and other fields will become a priority in meeting Serbia's demands.

The sides exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual concern.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who is paying an official visit to Azerbaijan has today visited the National Flag Square in Baku.

The Serbian Premier was informed about the National Flag Square.

Mr. Vucic also viewed the National Flag Museum established on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.

The Serbian Premier signed the guest book of the museum.

Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade has met his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.

Premier Rasizade highlighted relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia, adding the two countries were cooperating to developing ties even further.

They noted the role of reciprocal visits and meetings in developing the relations.

The sides praised cooperation in humanitarian field, and stressed the importance of improving economic ties.

The two also noted strong legal base between the two countries and hailed the role of diplomatic representations in developing the bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Rasizade spoke of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and thanked the Serbian government for supporting Azerbaijan`s just position in international organizations.

Premier Vucic praised his visit to Baku, and hailed relations between the two countries. The Premier said Azerbaijan and Serbia always supported each other, and underlined the significance of developing the economic ties.

Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has said his country has always backed Azerbaijan`s stance as he met Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov on the second day of his visit to Baku.

He praised Serbian-Azerbaijani ties, saying he believes his visit will contribute to “further strengthening our relations”.

Mr. Asadov said Azerbaijan and Serbia were strategic partners and friendly countries.

He expressed his confidence that the visit of the Serbian Premier would open a new chapter in the development of the relations between the two countries.

“We are interested in developing ties with Serbia in cultural and humanitarian fields. Both countries are working on this,” said the Parliament Speaker.

Mr Asadov hailed inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

He also lauded Serbia`s supporting Azerbaijan`s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in international organizations.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

The head of state recalled with pleasure his Munich meeting with the Premier of Serbia and their fruitful discussions on the development of partnership.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his confidence that the visit of the delegation led by Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic to Azerbaijan would be successful.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Serbia was interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan in both political and economic spheres.

It was noted that the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia were at a high level and that various projects on this front were being successfully implemented. The parties emphasized that strong political relations and mutual understanding between the two countries contributed to the expansion of the bilateral ties.

The sides exchanged views on the issues related to the prospects of cooperation in various areas, especially energy, investment making, cargo transportation, culture, and humanitarian field.

The parties also touched upon the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and it was stressed that the two countries` positions coincide with regard to solving conflicts based on the norms of international law and within territorial integrity.

Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has today arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit.

A guard of honor was arranged for the Serbian Premier at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

Aleksandar Vucic was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov and other officials.
