Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu completes official visit to Azerbaijan - UPDATED - PHOTOS

Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu has today ended his official visit to Azerbaijan.
A guard of honor was lined up for the Turkish Premier at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries.
Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu was seen off by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov and other officials.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has hailed Azerbaijan`s development as he met chairman of the country`s parliament Ogtay Asadov.

“I`m proud of Azerbaijan`s rapid development that I see each time I visit the country,” said the Turkish Premier, who is on an official visit to Baku. “Only two issues have remained unchanged amid the crises of recent years. First, Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship and brotherhood has remained unchanged. Second, there has been no delay in the development of either Azerbaijan or Turkey. Our countries are developing at a rapid place.”

Mr. Davutoglu said that as the prime minister he paid his first visit to Azerbaijan, adding he had spared no efforts to serve the people of Turkey and Azerbaijan regardless of his post.
He touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying Turkey “has always backed Azerbaijan`s just stance”.

“Settlement of the problem, restoration of brotherly Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity is important to Turkey as much as it is important to Azerbaijan.”

Mr. Davutoglu also praised the inter-parliamentary cooperation, saying it played a special role in the development of the bilateral relations.

“I`m confident that our cooperation with Azerbaijan will further develop in all areas,” the Turkish Premier added.

Mr. Asadov praised Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, saying they “had deep roots”. “We have excellent relations on all fronts. Azerbaijan-Turkey relations are an example to the rest of the world.”

He hailed cooperation between legislative bodies of the two countries. “Our countries back each other in all international organizations.”

Mr. Asadov particularly praised the bilateral cooperation in legal, political and economic fields. “We set ourselves a goal of elevating trade between our countries to 15 billion dollars.”
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, he said “Turkey is our main supporter on this issue”.

Azerbaijan and Turkey have discussed how to further deepen the bilateral relations as the two countries` prime ministers met in Baku.

Prime ministers Artur Rasizade and Ahmet Davutoglu had private talks before being joined by their delegations for a meeting in an expanded format.

Artur Rasizade highlighted the friendly and fraternal ties between the two countries. He said Azerbaijan and Turkey were successfully cooperating on all fronts, including political, economic and humanitarian areas.

The Premier expressed confidence that Ahmet Davutoglu`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the countries even further.

Rasizade said there was good potential for the further development of Azerbaijan-Turkey cooperation. He also stressed the importance of large-scale projects implemented by the two countries.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the high-level reciprocal visits played an important role in expanding bonds between the countries.

Ahmet Davutoglu expressed confidence that the friendly and fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey would continue to enhance.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity. He put a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.

The Turkish Prime Minister also visited a monument to Turkish soldiers and laid a wreath at it.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has today visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of national leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev.

The Turkish Prime Minister also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
