Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has attended the ceremony to lay a foundation stone for a new kindergarten located here in front of the school named after Heydar Aliyev.

The facility will be built with funding of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Following the ceremony Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva met representatives of the Astrakhan branch of the Azerbaijani Youth Association of Russia (AMOR).

Chairman of the Astrakhan branch of the association Elvin Huseynov provided an insight into the activity of the youth organizations in Astrakhan.

He noted that the branch was named the best youth organization in the oblast by the Administration of the Governor.

Vice-President of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva then met with teachers and pupils of the school named after Heydar Aliyev.

School principal Tatiana Tikhomirova thanked Leyla Aliyeva for the Foundation’s attention to the school.

Addressing the event Mrs Leyla Aliyeva noted the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has already carried out several huge projects in Astrakhan.

She noted that the Foundation attaches great importance to developing education with a number of education projects delivered by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in many countries, including Russia.

Mrs Leyla Aliyeva also stressed the key role of the youth in the strengthening of bilateral bonds between Azerbaijan and Russia.

Gifts were presented to the school on behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has attended the opening of the “Mechta” Children’s Cafe in Astrakhan, as part of the events with the participation of Azerbaijan’s delegation led by the Vice-President of the Foundation.

Mrs Leyla Aliyeva and Governor of the Astrakhan Oblast Alexander Zhilkin cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the cafe.

They also presented the New Year gifts to children.

The cafe is located near the children’s campus built with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The opening of the children’s campus was held on September 12, 2012 with the participation of Mrs Leyla Aliyeva.

About seven attractions have been installed in the campus which occupies a total area of 1200 square meters. All necessary conditions have been created here to ensure safety of children.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has attended a ceremony here to unveil a monument to Prince Vladimir.

The representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation and Astrakhan oblast first laid flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event was attended by the officials of the Azerbaijan and Administration of Astrakhan oblast, as well as members of the Parliament, representatives of the Astrakhan’s Azerbaijani community and local residents.

Governor of the Astrakhan oblast Alexander Zhilkin noted the monument to Prince Vladimir was erected on the initiative of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

He noted that this project was not the first one implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Astrakhan.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva addressed the event.

Mrs Leyla Aliyeva thanked the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill for awarding her the 3rd class Order of Princess Olga.

"It is great honor and pleasure for me. Today, the inauguration of the monument to Prince Vladimir has a special meaning for us. The representatives of different peoples as well as religions have always lived in peace, friendship and harmony in Azerbaijan for many years. The tolerance in Azerbaijan is not an aim, but a lifestyle. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation attaches a special attention to this issue in its activities,” Mrs Leyla Aliyeva noted.

Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva said Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan region maintain close relations.

“A number of joint projects were implemented in Astrakhan. A regional department of the Azerbaijani Youth Association in Russia operates in Astrakhan. The Astrakhan branch of the association is one of the most active bodies of the AMOR," Mrs Leyla Aliyeva said.
The event continued with the consecration of the monument.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the monument was held on September 12, 2012 with participation of an Azerbaijani delegation led by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.

A bronze 4-meter high monument was made stands on a granite pedestal. The monument was mounted on the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The author of the architectural composition is People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, honorary member of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts Natig Aliyev. Authors of the monument are Astrakhan Architect Alexander Fedorchenko and Sculptor from Moscow, People's Artist of Russia Andrei Kovalchuk.

The monument was dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of adoption the Christianity in Russia and the 455th anniversary of Astrakhan.

A ceremony to award the third class Order of Princess Olga to Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva took place at the administration of the governor of the Astrakhan oblast.

The order was presented by Metropolitan of Astrakhan and Kamiziak Iona.

The ceremony was attended by the members of the Azerbaijani delegation and general public of the Astrakhan oblast.

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kyril decreed to award Leyla Aliyeva with the third-class Order of the Princess St. Olga Equal-to-the-Apostles for the assistance in erection of the monument to the Prince Vladimir in Astrakhan and on the occasion of the 1025th anniversary of The Christianization of Russia and contribution to the friendship between Russia and Azerbaijan.

This order is presented to women for contribution to the state, public and ecclesiastical service.

The recipients of the order include chairperson of the Council of Federations of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, former president of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Grand Dutchess Maria Romanova.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has today met here with Governor of the Astrakhan oblast Alexander Zhilkin.

Zhilkin thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the great attention to the Astrakhan oblast. He noted that big projects had been implemented thanks to the support of the Azerbaijani government and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

“Solemn ceremonies arranged by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation will take place today too,” he said.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva praised Zhilkin`s contribution to the development of the Azerbaijan-Russia relations. She pointed out that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has implemented some projects in Astrakhan and today will see opening of the monument to Prince Vladimir and groundbreaking for the new kindergarten.

The meeting was addressed by chief of the socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov, Head of the Narimanov District Authority Abdin Farzaliyev and heads of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in the Astrakhan oblast.
