Heads of diaspora organizations of turkic-speaking states gathered in Baku - PHOTOS

Baku is hosting the First Forum of Heads of Diaspora Organisations of Member-Countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States.

Around 556 representatives of state agencies and diaspora organisations of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are attending the forum, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States Halil Akinci said at the opening ceremony on Friday.

According to him, this is the first such event in the history of Turkic Diaspora organisations.
"It is the time when the Turkic Diaspora organisations must unite," Akinci said.

According to the head of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov, currently the Turkic diaspora is represented in the world by millions of representatives and they must be united.

"One of the main objectives is to strengthen unity and solidarity among the Turkic people," he said.

The previously adopted a joint strategy which will be made public during the forum. An appeal to the presidents will be adopted following the forum.
