
Azerbaijan`s Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ogtay Asadov has held a number of meetings in Belgium.
Mr. Asadov met Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belgium Andre Flao, President of the Belgian Senate Sabine de Bethune, Chairman of Belgium-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group Philipe Blanchard.
They discussed relations between the two countries, as well as development of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Mr. Asadov touched upon the successful economic policy carried out in Azerbaijan, as well as large-scale energy projects.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the speaker of the Parliament said activity of the mediating OSCE Minsk Group still had not reached any results.
On non-realization of decisions and resolutions adopted by UN`s Security Council, Parliamentary Assembly of the European Union and other organizations Asadov called world society to intensify its efforts for settlement of the problem.
The Speaker met Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok to discuss several decisions adopted by the European Parliament.
Ogtay Asadov, as part of the visit, met President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy.
Recalling his visit to Baku, Herman Van Rompuy said Azerbaijan was important country for EU in terms of development of democracy, civil society and energy security.
They noted upcoming visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Belgium would give a push to further strengthening of the cooperation.
The Speaker also met President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz to discuss regional issues.
He highlighted Azerbaijan`s opportunities, however the country was situated in the difficult region.
"Main priorities of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy are integration into Europe," Asadov noted.
Ogtay Asadov also met European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle.
