Roland Kobia: Azerbaijan and EU grew up together

Baku Representation of the European Union held a ceremony to mark the Europe Day.
Addressing the participants with a keynote speech, head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia said with regret that his mission is coming to an end.

He noted that Azerbaijan was a different country when he arrived in this country 4 years ago: “During these years, Azerbaijan has developed. Azerbaijan and the European Union improved the relations and we can say that Azerbaijan and the EU grew up together.”

The Ambassador noted that Azerbaijan-EU talks on visa facilitation are about to end: “It will intensify the contact between our peoples. Azerbaijan is a country that can be proud of its past and is looking to the future.”

Speaking about the Europe Day, Roland Kobia said that the establishment of a united Europe was achieved thanks to joint work: “It happened over time, not in one day. None can think about the possibility of a new war in Europe.”

On the behalf of the Azerbaijani government, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev congratulated the Ambassador and guests on the Europe Day. Noting the high level of the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, the Minister said that these relations were established basing on mutual interest and partnership principles.

The event was attended by head of the socio-political department of the President`s Administration Ali Hasanov, Members of Parliament, party leaders, foreign ambassadors accredited in Baku and journalists.
